BRIEF: Identify an issue through research that involves pollution, and create two solutions to the issue.
one; that creates a behaviour change.
two; create a disruptive design outcome.
For this project, my focus was on the issue of people hoarding reusable bags and what the impact will be in the future if we continue to hoard at this rate. For this project, there was extensive research to create a methodology and solution, to identify the influencers and user journey. As well as be able to speculate the future through design and the extense of this research.
My behaviour change is to be implemented within halls of residence where students are handed stickers to encourage the usage of the bags they own before buying more, as a way to reduce the amount hoarded. The sticker is a QR code that implements a tracker which logs and records the reuse of the bag in which the sticker is applied to, further encouraging the reuse through gamification. This QR code would provide a discount at checkout for incentive and reward.
The disruptive design is a speculative outcome  that focuses on predicting the future of Cardiff if we continue the hoarding of reusable bags and how this problem may be solved by a future of technology. The speculative designs will be portrayed within university to cater to the student demographic, through the use of virtual reality. The use of virtual reality will allow students to visualise the future in real time and to experience the embedded features that would be necessary in 2050.
